We monitor the water quality each month all year round.

The lagoon is prone to frequent contamination, swimming is not recommended.

About Hamanatua Stream

The stream empties into Wainui Beach after forming a lagoon near the car park. Fed from run-off from surrounding farmlands, the stream and lagoon are frequently contaminated.  We advise not to swim in the lagoon.
Signs are in place warning of the potential health risk.
