Thoughts with family of fatally injured child

“Our heartfelt condolences are with the family of the child fatally injured in the accident that occurred in Russell Street yesterday afternoon.  This is an absolutely devastating thing for any family and the impacts on the community will be wide spread “ said Council’s chief executive Nedine Thatcher Swann.  There are no words to express what we are all feeling but I’m personally sending all my aroha to family and friends of all those involved.

Waste Management NZ Ltd is contracted by Council to provide kerbside rubbish and recycling collection and waste management services.

Waste Management have confirmed that one of their collection vehicles was involved in this incident. Managing director Tom Nickles said “this is a terrible incident and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends and community at this time”.

Waste Management confirm that they are working with Worksafe and the Police as they conduct their investigations and Council will fully cooperate in any investigation.
