Under Section 52 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, Notice is given that on Saturday the 9th of October 2010, the following elections will be held by postal vote.
Gisborne District Council - (using the First Past the Post (FPP) electoral voting system)
Tairawhiti District Health Board - (using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) electoral voting system)
Nominations of candidates will open on Friday 23 July 2010 and must be in the hands of the Electoral Officer at the address shown below not later than noon on Friday 20 August 2010.
Each candidate must be nominated on the nomination form available from council's Fitzherbert Street and Te Puia Service Centre offices, or download the form.
Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 GST inclusive, which may be paid by cash or cheque made out to Gisborne District Council.
A candidate may submit a candidate profile statement with their nomination paper for sending out with the voting documents to electors. An attachment to the nomination paper outlines the rules and procedures governing candidate profile statements.
All nominators must be registered as electors on the electoral roll in the same ward as the person they are nominating, and all nominated candidates must be registered on the parliamentary electoral roll.
The electoral roll to be used for the election:

Any changes, queries or omissions relating to the non-residential ratepayer electoral roll should be by contacting the Electoral or Deputy Electoral Officer.
Voting papers will be dispatched to electors between Friday 17 September and Wednesday 22 September 2010. Electors may vote during the voting period from 17 September to noon Saturday 9 October 2010 (election day)
Both Gisborne District Council and Tairawhiti District Health Board have resolved to allow progressive processing of voting documents before close of voting under section 79, Local Electoral Act.
