Public to keep away from Pipeline Car Park

Midway’s pipeline car park will be lit up on Friday night as council contractors work through the night to make repairs to the sewer main. The pressurised pipe has cracked and large sump holes appeared in the car park Thursday evening. Read more >>
Sewer leak closes beach and car park

The sewer main from Gisborne city’s wastewater treatment plant to the Midway outfall pipe has cracked. The pipe is pressurised and leaks have occurred. A number of sump holes have appeared in the Pipeline car park adjacent to Midway Beach. This car park and surrounding area is now closed to the public. The immediate area has been sanitised and public health authorities have been notified. Read more >>
Management of Wainui Beach to be reviewed

Council is reviewing its Wainui Beach Management Strategy (WBMS). The strategy was written in 2003 in response to concerns about eroding dunes, property protection and increasing use. The review will involve key community stakeholders. Read more >>

Waioeka Gorge will close for short periods
25 Jul 2012
The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that a short section of the Waioeka Gorge at Oponae on State Highway 2 will close for short periods from 30 July – 3 August 2012 to enable the removal of hazardous trees overhanging the highway. Read more >>
