Application for oil exploration resource consent received

Gisborne District Council has received a resource consent application from TAG Oil and Apache Corporation for the drilling of an exploratory well at "Punawai" on Kanakanaia Road, Te Karaka. Associated with this are applications to take water, discharge water and contaminants to ground, discharge stormwater and discharge contaminants to air. Read more >>
Whitaker Street traffic disruptions

Whitaker Street traffic will be disrupted next week as Council replaces stormwater pipes along Whitaker Street between Domett and Stafford Streets. Traffic will be restricted to one lane at times and there will be some noise during the day. There may be short periods when nearby residents have restricted access to their properties. Council’s contractor will notify affected residents before this happens. If people can take an alternative route and avoid the area during construction that would be appreciated says stormwater team leader Joss Ruifrok. Read more >>
Riverside walkway closed temporarily

Council needs to close part of the riverside walkway - under the Gladstone Road Bridge and under the Peel Street Bridge - to keep the public safe while sewer pipe and pathway repairs are made. Read more >>
