Free parking during Genesis filming

Shoppers to town on Wednesday and Thursday this week will not have to pay for parking. The filming of the ‘Genesis – The Dark Horse’ feature length movie will be happening in Peel Street on 22 and 23 May. Part of Peel Street from Gladstone Road to Palmerston Road will be closed from 6am to 6pm to vehicles. Foot traffic is still permitted and the film company will have people on board to direct pedestrians through the set safely. Film crews will also have several car parks reserved around the area for vehicles with technical equipment. Read more >>
Gisborne water restrictions lifted

Water restrictions have been lifted in Gisborne city following recent rainfall.  However, Council is encouraging city residents to continue to conserve water as dam levels are still low. Read more >>
Water pipes to be replaced in Mangapapa

Traffic in Gordon Street, Ayton Street and part of Valley Road between Gordon Street and Ormond Road, will be disrupted as Council replaces water pipes. Read more >>
TV TakeBack recycles your old TV

As part of a nationwide TV TakeBack initiative, Gisborne residents can take their old television to local appliance stores for recycling. Smiths City and Noel Leeming are accepting old televisions for a small fee ($5 each), and Harvey Norman are accepting a limited number for free at 144 Lowe Street (beach end). Look for the TV drop off banner. The televisions can be dropped off any time during store opening hours. Read more >>
