Kaiti to Wainui cycleway planned out

Planning for the long awaited cycleway between Wainui and Kaiti is well underway and the intention is that it will be built this year. This is a New Zealand Transport Agency project that is being jointly managed with the Gisborne District Council. The project will make the state highway safer for cyclists and pedestrians while building on Council’s focus of creating a network of cycle and walkways within Gisborne city. Read more >>

Proposal to top Pohutukawa trees at Wainui Reserve

Council is proposing that the Pohutukawa trees on a Council reserve at Wainui be left standing but topped to avoid any possible adverse impact on the neighbours. Neighbours of the reserve and playground “No Access” at 31 Wairere Road, Wainui, believe their tank water is being affected by Pohutukawa trees dropping flowers into their guttering and water supply. After having taken all practical steps themselves to stop the flowers getting into their tank water they had requested that the trees be removed. Read more >>
