Demand for water from Gisborne district irrigators is predicted to increase significantly in the next 50 years. There are signs that the Makauri and Matokitoki aquifers are in decline and a number of Gisborne district rivers have quality issues especially after high rainfall. How freshwater is managed now, and in the future, is a key issue for the district. Read more >>
Waihi Bridge in Tokomaru Bay will be closed this weekend

Waihi Bridge on Wharf Road, Tokomaru Bay will be closed for urgent repairs on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November. The guardrail on one side of the bridge has deteriorated and will be replaced with a concrete block guardrail. The guardrail on the other side of the bridge has already been replaced. Read more >>
