Our district

The Gisborne district comprises 8,355 square kilometres on the eastern-most corner of New Zealand's North Island. Total population is 44,499.
To the south the sunny white cliffs of Te Kuri a Paoa, or Young Nick's Head.

Further north, the mystical Mt Hikurangi stands at 1753 metres. As the first point on the mainland New Zealand to see the new day's sun, Mt Hikurangi is especially revered by the Maori people.
