Renewable energy is just as it sounds - energy that is self-restoring. Examples include wind, solar energy, hydro energy and bioenergy

Bioenergy

Bioenergy is an important form of renewable energy. Bioenergy is heat, electric power, light or transport fuel that is extracted from biomass.

Geothermal

New Zealand has an abundant supply of geothermal resources, such as hot springs and volcanoes.

Marine

The waves and tides in New Zealand’s energetic coastal environment are a world-class resource for energy conservation.

Micro hydro energy

Hydro electricity is created by moving water through turbines, which in turn drive generators to make electricity.

Solar energy

There is plenty of solar energy in New Zealand that can be harnessed in many areas.

Wind energy

New Zealand’s wind resource is amongst the best in the world. Wind energy is one of the fastest forms of electricity generation to build and bring online.
