Dog registration

Dogs must be registered from 3 months of age. 
We post out the annual licence invoices to all registered dog owners by 1 July each year.  The invoice must be paid by 31 July to receive a $20 discount. 

All dogs registered for the first time (except working farm dogs) must be microchipped within 2 months of registration.

You need to bring the form into customer services for payment and to pick up your dog tag.  On the registration form we need: 

• your date of birth - applicants must be over 16 years of age
• your full name and address, and your postal address if it's different to your residential address
• your contact phone number
• the applicant must sign the registration form

Cost to register your dog

 If you register your dog part-way through the year, we will calculate the amount you need to pay. 

 * A dog may be declared menacing or dangerous if council believes it is a threat to any person, animal or protected wildlife.

Council must classify a dog as menacing if there are reasonable grounds to believe it belongs predominantly to one of the 4 restricted breeds, American Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argentino, Braziliam Fila or Japanese Tosa.  It is illegal to import any of these restricted breeds/types.

Menacing dogs must be muzzled when in public and councils may require them to be neutered. 
Dangerous dogs must be muzzled in public, neutered and kept securely fenced on the owner's property without blocking access to any dwelling.
