Council supply

The city's water is supplied from 3 main dams in Mangapoike - Clapcott, Williams, and Sang. These dams feed water into the Waingake Treatment Plant, before travelling through 30kms of pipe to your taps.

Gisborne also has a secondary treatment plant at Waipaoa, which was built in answer to the devastation caused by 1988's Cyclone Bola. This plant is used essentially as an emergency 'back-up'.

Water connection

Applying for a new or additional water connection is usually with a building consent application.
