Air quality plan

The regional Air Quality Management Plan has been prepared to assist the Gisborne District Council to promote the sustainable management of the air resource of the Gisborne region.  The following issues are covered by the plan:

• odour
• agrichemical spray application
• smoke and dust
• abrasive blasting
• engine emissions
• burning of fuel for heating
• open fires, backyard burning
• industrial emissions

Chapters of the Air Quality Plan

Chapter 1 - Introduction(293kb 7 pages) - introduces the purpose of the plan, geographic scope and the plan preparation and implementation process. It also establishes the policy and legal framework under which the Plan has been prepared.

The plan was publicly notified in October 1996.  It became part operative on 31 March 2007 (excluding Chapter 6 Rule 14.2 User Training).  It was approved by council on 20 December 2007 and became operative on 14 January 2008 (Chapter 6 - Rule 14.2)
